Venture capital is an alternative source of business funding available in the form of equity investments. Such investments are usually made in innovative companies with high growth and development potential.

Differently from bank loans where interest is paid on the funds received, the venture capital fund purchases a part of the company’s shares and earns from dividends and/or subsequently from the sale of these shares. A venture capital investor usually actively participates in the activities of the company it invests in and contributes by its knowledge, connections and expertise to the development of this company.
