The Entrepreneurship Promotion Fund serves as an example when it comes to developing new financial instruments

The opening conference of the Fi-Compass technical advisory platform started today in Brussels. This platform is for sharing experiences as well as discussing and putting forward ideas for the development of financial instruments under the European Structural and Investment Funds for the period 2014-2020.

The Entrepreneurship Promotion Fund managed by Invega was presented as one of the successful examples in the opening event. The presentations were delivered by Žaneta Maskaliovienė, representative of the Ministry of Social Security and Labour, and Audrius Zabotka, Director General of Invega.

At the end of last year, the European Investment Bank carried out an analysis of the financial instruments which had been successfully implemented and had served their original purpose across the EU. The Entrepreneurship Promotion Fund was also selected and analysed in great detail as a financial instrument for business start-ups. This case study illustrates the current experience in implementing financial instruments as an innovative funding option available for businesses. It is hoped that similar financial instruments can be implemented during the 2014–2020 programme period as well. Further information on the study is available here.

The conference is organised by the European Commission and the European Investment Bank. The event attracts over 400 representatives from EU Member States and the managing and implementing authorities, which will be responsible for the programmes and measures earmarked for the 2014–2020 period.
